Thankful

Thanksgiving morning has begun, Dad and I are having coffee and getting ready to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. Later, we’ll visit grandparents and cook a big meal, but right now it’s the calm before the storm. I’m soaking it up, because this is my second Thanksgiving of the week. The first was Friends’ Thanksgiving, also known as Turkey Festivus.

On Sunday, we had 25 friends over to our humble apartment for the second annual Friends Thanksgiving. Now that it’s happened twice, we can call it a tradition — one friend hosts and roasts a turkey and everyone else contributes a side, dessert and/or beverage to the feast. I am so thankful to have such wonderful friends who look forward to a big Sunday dinner gathering and have the cooking ability to make it happen.

I roasted a 24 pounder plus a 4 pounder for good measure. Here’s the big guy:

We ate, drank and were merry

Until the food coma set in
I am so thankful to have such a great group of friends who appreciate a good meal and good company.  You are the best friends a girl could ask for.  And of course I can’t wait to do it all again today with the family that I’m thankful for (and Jessie & Troy! but, let’s be serious, you’re basically family).
I’m off to Grandma & Grandpa’s now … Happy Thanksgiving!
