A Whirlwind Weekend
There was just not enough time this weekend. Friday night I did Rebecca a solid and went straight from work to the Washington Hilton where her firm was working an event. I mainly just practiced my alphabet by helping with registration, but I also got to run after D.C. Mayor-Elect Vincent Gray to make sure he was headed in the right direction to speak at the event. Somehow no one else knew what he looked like. Even though we worked until 10 p.m. on a Friday night, I enjoyed meeting all of Rebecca’s coworkers and seeing her in action. I also enjoyed seeing all the interesting outfits parading into the gala — including a guy wearing a Maryland flag bow-tie and cumberbund.
Saturday was two big celebrations. First, dinner out with Rebecca, Scott and their friends to celebrate their engagement was a success — Cava was delicious. After dinner, or more like while everyone was paying for dinner, I ran down the street to The Ugly Mug to secure TVs and sound and space to watch my Hokies in the ACC Championship against Florida State. It was a beautiful game and we’re ACC Champs yet again!
The rest of the night was a flurry of celebration and dancing and pictures.
I feel like I got a little preview of what we can all expect to see at the wedding festivities to come. Kind of like a dance-off movie with less rhythm. I’ll begin accepting challengers now.
