Graduations Make Me Cry

Pretty much from the moment the brass quintet started playing here in the University of Florida basketball stadium, my eyes got weepy and I’ve been choked up ever since.

Graduations make me cry. As I post, we’re waiting for my godparents’ (hi Walt and Eileen!) daughter Amanda to walk across the stage. I’m resisting the urge to yell out at all the caps and gowns, “Turn around go back stay another year don’t graduate ever!!”

I’m sure they all have bright, wonderful futures, but there’s nothing quite like those four (or more) years of undergrad. That said, there’s also nothing like the day you celebrate four years of hard work, memories, challenges, and most importantly — fun.

I’m feeling my age again – has it really been three years since Pete and I had our full circle moment at graduation in Lane Stadium after meeting at freshman orientation?!

Wow, how time flies.
